2nd Annual – Dreamforce To You – A Success!

What a Weekend! Who knew that a small event @CRMjen and I created last year would double in size from one year to the next? At one of our last user group meetings prior to Dreamforce 2009 I surveyed the members who attended and asked who would be attending #DF09. I was disappointed at my finding, a good portion of the room said they were unable to attend because their company wouldn’t finance their trip. I thought to my self “Damn”, that sucks these people have no idea what they are missing out on. Then I had a eureka moment —- what for it….. What if I could bring #DF09 back to Florida with me? Sounds like a big idea but with with the support from some key people it was easy and I was happy to do it! Last year we had ~80 Registrations and ~45 actually showed. This year we had 126 people register and 90 enthusiastic people showed up to dedicate their Saturday to learning and collaborating with other salesforce.com geeks like myself. The response and energy was incredible! This day would have not been possible without our sponsors Riptide, Informatica, Silverpop, BlueWolf, iLinc and CloudTrigger nor my fellow user group leaders from Orlando, Tampa and Jacksonville.

It’s never to late to keep the Dreamforce Momentum going! This morning I finally finished my 2nd iMovie production to complement my previous #DF10 video posting back in December.

OSUG January 2011 Meetup

We had a great turn out for January’s Meeting at IKEA. A whopping 30 members in attendance. Thanks to all for attending. This month I reviewed all of the exciting features and enhancements included in the Salesforce.com’s Spring 11 Release.

After spending some quality time with iMove ’11 and implementing some some tips from @forceDotMom I was able to throw the video below together. I spent countless hours getting the “beat markers” placed in the correct place which was a task in it’s self b/c I have absolutely no rhythm…lol – Not bad for my 1st attempt. My former boss lady @CRMjen from Hilton Grand Vacations had the opportunity to speak at #DF10. Jennifer did a great job in summarizing the development we did and why we did it in the presentation below. While working with Jennifer as her Integrations Manager (Lead Developer) it was my job to figure out the “HOW” (How do all things we needed/wanted) and to execute the development efforts after collaborating with end-users, managers and the legal department. Watching this video brings back some very fond memories of creative #Friday brainstorming sessions. It’s very rewarding to see the work you’ve poured your heart, mind and soul into; demonstrated in front of a technical audience who really “GET” the meaning of CRM, Great Development and Contact Management. All of the development/features wouldn’t be so slick with out great testers like Bill, Jordan, Andres, Brian, Gina & Yuko.

Navigating the Salesforce can be too clicky at times, especially when you are in the setup and drilling down 3 levels to get to Workflows OR searching for something you know exist but aren’t sure which submenu it’s under. In the last couple of months the number of userscripts.org to enhance your experience with Salesforce.com has grown. But, there is only one that I use RELIGIOUSLY, it even makes the salesforce developers I have gotomeeting sessions with, stop and ask what’s that? How did you get it?

Setup Enhancer allows you to type in a phrase to narrow down the setup options to do exactly what you are looking for. Type a phrase and 1 click to get what you want definitely beats 5 or 6.

It’s so close I can taste it! Dreamforce 2010! It doesn’t seem like it was too long ago when I was all geared up for #DF09. Where has this year goes? Who cares! The energy on twitter this week around #DF10 is nothing short of incredible. I’ll looking forward to meeting all of the people behind the avatar whom I’ve exchanged tweets with on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.

Force.com Spring ’10 Release exam PASSED

After several email notifications saying my Developer Certification was in Jeopardy of expiring b/c I have taken any release exams I finally found the time to take a Release Exam to continue my certification. The exam free and a piece of cake. Next time I won’t wait to the last minute to take it.
